Root canal therapy involves the removal of diseased tissue, the repair of root structures, and the retreatment of teeth previously endodontically treated.

Dr. Craig D. Bellamy is a registered specialist in Endodontics with the RCDSO, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists. He graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry, obtaining a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He practiced general dentistry for 16 years and worked as an owner/operator of two full-scope general dental practices.
Dr. Bellamy completed his 3-year Endodontic specialty training at the University of Toronto serving as Resident-Chief for the duration of the program, concomitantly earning a Master of Science degree in the field of Regenerative Endodontics. He received national and international grant funding for research on nanoparticles, stem cells and tissue regeneration, and was the first Canadian to serve on the Resident Expert Advisory Council for the American Association of Endodontists Foundation.
Dr. Bellamy was awarded top prize (AAE-Dentsply Award) for his research presentation in Regenerative Endodontics at the American Association of Endodontists Annual Convention in San Francisco, and top prize (CAE-Dentsply Sirona Endodontics Award) for his research presentation at the Canadian Academy of Endodontics Annual Convention in Winnipeg.
During his training, Dr. Bellamy gained extensive experience in root canal treatment and re-treatment, emergencies, apical surgery, root resorption management, anti-biofilm strategies, dento-alveolar trauma, tissue regenerative therapy, grafting, and implants. He also obtained certification in small field-of-view Cone Beam CT.
Dr. Bellamy is the current Constitution and Bylaws Officer for the Ontario Society of Endodontists, Past President of the George Hare Endodontic Study Club, and has enjoyed developing Endodontic continuing education material for the University of Toronto and the Canadian Dental Association, as well as publishing scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
He continues on at the University as a clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry and maintains active membership in the following organizations:
